SCTPP The Safety Certification for Transportation Project Professionals (SCTPP) is an exam that demonstrates professional core competencies needed to identify the most common dangers in transportation projects, and to prevent accidents that could result in deaths or injuries. Pearson VUE test centres are located throughout the United US. The ARTBA Transportation Development Foundation engaged an internationally-recognized consulting firm specializing in helping industries and government agencies develop effective, fair, valid, reliable and legally defensible assessment and evaluation services to work with industry safety leaders on this program. SCTPP is a program developed by industry executives and safety advocates through the ARTBA Foundation. Its aim is to reduce, and hopefully eliminate, the 50k worker deaths and injuries that occur every year in and around U.S. infrastructure construction projects. It is aimed at workers as well as supervisors and foremen, inspectors, designers, planners and manufacturers, equipment operators and suppliers of materials, as well as owners who would benefit from acquiring the knowledge required to recognize life-threatening onsite risks. The SCTPP test is an 2.5-hour long test that includes 120 multiple-choice questions. These questions focus on the process of assessing, drafting, and implementing safety plans for projects in identifying risks and reducing them, managing personnel on project sites, developing an investigation plan, writing accident or incident report, and conducting training sessions. SCTPP certification is valid for three years. Recertification is required to demonstrate that you have documented your ongoing learning and the ability to retest. To be eligible to participate in the SCTPP program applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in construction or engineering and have two years of experiencein construction projects involving transportation. This can be as an operator, laborer, foreperson or superintendent and can also be acquired through internships. The applicant must also pass the OSHA 30 or OSHA 510 course. SCTPP will pay for the weighted average tuition at a school participating in the program or the actual tuition cost at the time of application, whichever is less. However, SCTPP does not cover costs for books, dormitory fees or course-specific fees, meal plans orientation, laundry, parking or drop/add fees.
